Shytishia "SAM" Flugence

About her Journey...
Attorney Shytishia "SAM" Flugence, a native of Hammond, La, is a Christian, wife, mother, community servant and entrepreneur. She first came to Lafayette as a college student in 1997 and has called the Hub City home for more than 23 years.
Mrs. Flugence's call to office is found within her passion to serve and put others above herself.
A 2002 graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Mrs. Flugence made her family proud becoming a first generation college student and graduate when she obtained her Bachelors of Arts in Political Science. Mrs. Flugence went on to graduate Law School, class of 2005 at Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge La. Thereafter, Mrs. Flugence would reach her goal, set at just age 6, when she obtained her law license after passing the Louisiana State Bar Exam in 2006.
Flugence Law Firm found establishment in the McComb- Vezay Corridor in Lafayette; serving the community on the corner of 10th Street and Evangeline through way for nearly 14 years, with Mrs. Flugence at the helm. The law firm, though a general practice, Mrs. Flugence gained notoriety for her passion for justice in helping families involved in domestic litigation.
Mrs. Flugence is very proud to have contributed to voter registration and awareness through her non profit Empowering Minorities of Our Community (EMOC) in 2004. She says "this work will never get old and we all have a part to complete in the process of getting things done."
Mrs. Flugence has served on many boards and organizations. Notable is her service as President of Outreach Community Development Corporation and co -founder of JS Clark Leardship Academy. She also a past president of minority bar, Louis A. Martinet Legal Society.
At the very heart of her community service is the basketball program i-ten Athletics which provided at risk youth an avenue to pursue dreams and aspirations beyond their goals.
Mrs. Flugence has been married to Mr. Damon Flugence for 20 years and they have three children, Semaj, Semar and Sera Rose. Mrs. Flugence looks forward to continue supporting our community.
